Post COVID, we’re packing our bags to…

Like the rest of the world, The Lunch Magazine team is yearning for the day we can pack our bags again and head off on a jet plane to our favourite destinations. Here’s five we’re missing the most and we have at the top of our lists to get to once we are all allowed to travel again.

Like the rest of the world, The Lunch Magazine team is yearning for the day we can pack our bags again and head off on a jet plane to our favourite destinations.

Here’s five we’re missing the most and we have at the very top of our lists to get to once we are all finally allowed to travel again.

London1. London is calling...again

There is something so majestical about London. From the red buses to the black taxis to the historic buildings and cozy old-school pubs at every turn, London has charm and appeal wherever and whenever you look.

Wander the River Thames which is so central to the city’s main sites, walk through one of the many parks which are a heartbeat of the city, or visit an historical theatre or museum, there is always so much to do, every bit of it we miss.

The pubs, the people, the football, the theatre, the nightlife and restaurants, London is calling.

Exotic destination in Seychelles - Anse Source d'Argent - beautiful beach on tropical island La Digue2. Anyone crystal clear waters and a deserted beach? Anse Source d’Argent Beach

Lush jungle palms, white powdery sands, crystal clear waters - located on La Digue Island, lies the most famous beach in the Seychelles – Anse Source d’Argent Beach.

One of the most photographed beaches in the world, it’s the perfect place to forget the last 12-months...and who wouldn’t want to forget the last 12-months!

The changing landscapes, the covers and caves, the lack of hotels and cafes anywhere near the beach. Paradise.

Fancy some fresh coconuts and fruit? The only thing to buy is a bit of small stand jewellery and bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces and anklets made from fresh river pearls. Sound good to you, it does us. Get us there now!

3. Food, wine, repeat. To San Sebastian we go...

A small resort town on the Bay of Biscay, San Sebastián one of Spain and world’s true gems.

With Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta beaches framed by a picturesque bayfront promenade, and amazing restaurants on every corner, the pleasures of this town are impossible to forget and leave you only dreaming for a return. The beautiful cobblestoned old town (Parte Vieja), the Michelin-star winning innovative cuisine and the tapas bars are always buzzing, creating a lively, upbeat atmosphere in a place full of wonders.

Take a siesta, dream of the markets and food, wine and tapas, dream again of San Sebastian.

Kawhia New Zealand4. Off the beaten track...in NZ

In a country full of off the beaten track marvels, few match the cozy little coastal village of Kawhia.

More than an hour away from Hamilton, it’s the perfect spot for a spot of fishing, a picnic at a near-deserted beach, a wander through the national parks.

If you fancy something a little more extravagant, why not try out the famous  hot water spring on Ocean Beach. At low tide, geothermally heated water bubbles up through the black sand – you can dig your own bath.

In February the town is also home to the Kawhia Kai Festival. Listed as one of the Lonely Planet's top 10 Maori experiences, the festival offers you the chance to try unique indigenous foods and sample a little of this wonderful, mystical indigenous culture.
