Fraser Suites – a home in Sydney city

From the moment you step in to the high ceiling lobby of the Fraser Suites Sydney, away from the bustling, noisy streets, you can feel a wave of serenity. The entrance is open and quiet and the staff at front desk are warm and eager to help. While checking in you can relax into a cushy armchair creating a comfortable one on one area where the staff begins to make you feel right at home.

With tones of silver and ash dotted with muted greens and yellows throughout the interior the building feels quite modern and similar to the concrete skyscraper hotels in bigger cities like New York.

Standing tall at forty two floors the Fraser Suites Sydney casts a large shadow over the city and offers amazing views of city staples like Darling Harbour, Town Hall and the QVB.

While you won’t quite see the sparkling harbour views that some other Sydney hotels boast, the transformation from a sunny, active city into a glittering metropolis as the sun goes down is beautiful to watch.

Being so centrally located has plenty of perks as well.

Simply slip out their side entrance through Regent Place and you’ll find yourself smack in the middle of the city.

To your left is Town Hall station in case you’re in need of a train, right in front of you is a bus stop ready to take you anywhere from Circular Quay to Paddington to Bondi Beach, or simply cross the road and hop on a bus to Haymarket, Glebe or Newtown.

Or if you really want to see the city, simply start walking.

The QVB is only a few minutes away, Darling Harbour is a short five minute stroll down the street and if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous you can go for a walk across the Anzac Bridge or through the city and down into the historic Rocks district.

Walking out of Fraser Suites Sydney onto George Street really does make it feel like the city is in your hands.

Throughout the city it is definitely possible to find yourself in a bit of a black hole when it comes to public transport- whether the bus you need doesn’t stop there or you’re in some part of the Eastern Suburbs and the lack of trains is affecting your schedule.

However, you’re definitely not going to deal with those problems here.

When you’re looking to relax after exploring the city the rooms are easily a home away from home.

Fraser Suites Sydney offers over 200 self-contained luxury apartments and studios as well as two amazing penthouses.

The hotel’s glass exteriors create stunning views from each and every room.

It’s a pretty luxurious feeling to simply turn your head in bed and look out on the beautiful landscape of Sydney.

All the rooms are self-contained and have a little kitchenette- perfect for long term stays but if you’re only there for a few nights it’s quite difficult to ignore the pull of Sydney’s stellar foodie scene.

All the apartments are equipped with a built-in refrigerator, toaster, kettle, glassware, china and a microwave oven.

I could easily see myself extending my stay for quite a while; the only thing I might change would be a bit extra counter space to be able to do some baking.

Though I’m sure many business professionals passing through would not have the same urge to create homemade cookies.

Within Fraser Suites Sydney you’ll also find a fully equipped gymnasium that stays open 24/7 and a 20 metre heated lap pool with a quirky little window in the floor so you can spy down on the shopping precinct below.

For any business needs you’ll find a whole Business Centre at your fingertips complete with internet access and secretarial services.

And for those who are more in the mood for a few nights of luxury, the Fraser Suites Sydney boasts two enormous penthouse suites on the top floor.

Each penthouse suite is complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study, a large living room with views across the entire city, a fully equipped kitchen and gorgeous dining table.

The perfect venue for a romantic escape for two or even a great weekend away for two couples.

One of my personal favourite aspects of Fraser Suites Sydney is the secret passageway into Regent Place.

One of Sydney’s best secret foodie hubs, you’ll find a plethora of dining options including Tetsuya’s, Assembly Bar, misschu and Chef’s Gallery.

One of the standouts, Chef’s Gallery, provides upscale yum cha with a few unique items like their Macanese-style sliders or their famous ‘Piggy Face’ sesame buns and is a great night out with friends.

A recent addition to Regent Place is Yebisu Izakaya, a fun Japanese restaurant where everything is ordered on touch screens.

You can sit back, enjoy some delicious sake from their very own sake trolley, a plate of fresh, beautifully presented sashimi and some sizzling teriyaki covered gyoza and then casually stroll less than 50 metres right back into your suite.

With such amazing options less than a minute away from the hotel I wouldn’t be surprised if the kitchens in the suites don’t get much of a workout.

Apart from great standard features offered throughout the hotel, Fraser Suites Sydney really stands apart in the details.

With free Wifi throughout the hotel, room service at night in case you want to dine while looking out over the beautiful Sydney skyline, a gorgeous buffet breakfast available in the morning, plenty of amenities throughout the rooms and a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it’s all too easy to feel right at home.
